Interview with Lila Felix

  • What is the hardest thing about writing ?
I think the hardest thing about writing is hitting that publish button. It’s like reaching inside yourself, tearing off a little piece of your heart and then putting it on an examination table. It’s so scary. Even after 11 novels and 1 novella, it never gets easy.

  • Have you ever had writers block - if so what got you through it ?
I have not ever had writer’s block. I think the key to not getting writer’s block is to read as much as possible. It gets the creative juices flowing.

  • Do you read much or at all ?
I read TONS! I read more now than I did before I was a writer. I try to cram books in between books and I also use books as a reward system for getting my word goals completed.

  • If you do read who/what are your favorite Authors/Genre ?
I have some favorites. I love anything YA (paranormal, romance). Some of my favorites are Rachel Higginson, Shelly Crane, Amy Bartol, Jamie Magee, Anne Eliot, Amber Garza, A.M. Hargrove and Amity Hope.

  • Do you read your books review ?
Yes. I read them. I’ve grown a thicker skin since starting and now have a little more strength to take the bad ones. But every once in a while, one will really get me down.

  • If you were asked for advice from an aspiring writer what would you tell them ?
Write, write and write some more. Do the work. No one is going to sell your books for you. Email the bloggers, put in the social media time, and then keep writing some more. And always edit, edit, edit.

  • Which Authors inspire you ?
Shelly Crane, Rachel Higginson, Amy Bartol, Jamie Magee, Amber Garza, Samantha Young, Michelle Leighton, Quinn Loftis: They all inspire me and I’m so blessed to call them my friends.

  • Tell us a bit about yourself ?
I live in Louisiana with my three kids, three dogs and I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 15 years. And I love cookies.

  • How does it feel to have your work published ?
It’s such a blessing, but boy is it work. I bet I work 60+ hours a week. But I love every single second of it.

  • Do you still like writing as much as you did when you first started ?
I do. I love it. I’m enamored with telling my stories.

  • Where is your favorite place to write if you have one ?
Anywhere! I can literally write anywhere.

  • If you weren't writing what else do you be doing ?
I would be a stay at home mom.

  • What is your comfort food ?
Pasta!! I love pasta, anything pasta.

  • Do you listen to music when you write ?
Yes, music is my world. I turn it on first thing in the morning and it doesn’t end until I go to bed. I can remember what music was playing during some significant moments in my life.

  • The funnest thing happened at a signing ?
It’s all fun! I love meeting my readers. I have the most kick butt readers on the planet!

  • The Scariest thing happened at a signing ?
I’m always a nervous wreck at a signing. As much fun as it is, I get totally nervous! It’s all scary.

What I Think

I have been wanting to read this book for while and have picked it up and put it down a few times. only because I have had read a trilogy both times before hand, but this time I did not put it down and I was glad I didn't. the story starts to me really full on with a sex scene which might turn some people off  but bare with it because you soon come to understand that It is something Sara is reading.

The story follows Sara a high school teacher who's neighbour Ella wins a storage locker of a lady, but Ella goes off to get married in Paris out of the blue and she asks Sara to clean out the storage locker for her as she only has a week to do so or it get resold to someone else and that Sara can keep the profits from the things that are in it she sells.

Sara is unsure she wants to sell anything, she looks through the storage locker for information to give the lady her things back Sara reads the lady's journals to see if she can find her whereabouts. she finds out that she works at ALLURE Art Gallery somewhere Sara as always wanted to work as she has studied and got her Major in Art.

It also follows Chris Merit a Famous Artist who's art is hanging in ALLURE Art Gallery. There was a event for another artist to unveil a new piece. That is where Chris meets Sara for the first time when she is running late for the unveiling.

There is a lot that happens in this book but the way it is written is amazing and you don't get lost with who is who but it keeps you guessing all the way, oh and the ending I did not see that coming. I will be reading the rest of the trilogy as soon as I can.

What I Think

I got this book as ARC from NetGalley for a honest review and honestly it was a amazing book I couldn't put it down, I had read the first two and was hooked on them from the first page Lisa Renee Jones knows how to get you into the book and keep you there. I am hoping there is another book to follow but if there isn't then it finished in a great spot.

The third follows Chris and Sara's story where the second one finished not knowing where things were heading with them, Chris still to tell Sara his big secret and hoping that she doesn't run. once they get to Paris Sara finds out fast that Chris past is out to get him back into they way he was before.

There is a lot I want to say but I think that will give things away so all i'm going to say is that if you like Lisa Renee Jones then this is another of her books to read.

Synopsis

Chasing the Shadows
A QUESTION OF LUST

Nikki James is in San Francisco at the request of her partner and best friend, Jake. The wife of an old friend is missing, and Jake intends to find her—whatever the cost. The authorities believe the kidnappings to be the work of a sick mind, but Nikki knows that the truth is something much worse—especially since she seems to have an unexpected psychic link to the killer. But as always, she is more than willing to risk her own life to save another’s.

For Michael Kelly, Nikki’s bravado is a source of endless terror. He wants nothing more than to make Nikki a permanent part of his life, but he knows that her quest is sure to get her killed. As they chase through the sewers and tunnels of San Francisco and the body count begins to rise, Michael badgers her to stay off the case, but Nikki has no intention of complying. She wants him to realize that she’s either a full partner in his life or she’s out. But nothing prepares her for the price she has to pay for her stubbornness—the life of someone she loves.

Kiss the Night Goodbye
THE PRICE OF LOVE

Nikki James is just an ordinary, risk-taking, psychically inclined private eye until she hooks up with Michael Kelly. Now she is something more: one of the few, the chosen, the magic-wielding undercover operatives of the Damask Circle, an organization protecting humanity from a rising tide of evil. She wants nothing more than to pass the Circle’s strict entry exams so she can get on with the business of planning her wedding to Michael. But she quickly realizes that buying a wedding dress is the least of her worries.

One hundred years ago, Michael Kelly hunted down and killed the sorcerer responsible for murdering his lover. Now the brother of that man is out for revenge, and he intends to destroy all that Michael holds dear in the process. When Michael is kidnapped, the trail leads Nikki to a dusty ghost town surrounded by a potent magical barrier, leaving her to battle a madman alone with only her wits, strength, and the one psychic gift she cannot fully control. And to make matters even worse, Michael no longer seems to remember who she is.
