Quintessentially Q

Synopsis

“All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… fucked up to want something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then slave fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs make a right."

Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.

He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.

“You need me like I need you. I get it,” she murmured.

I ducked and nuzzled her throat, teeth aching to break her skin and lick. “And why is that?” My hand reached to cup her neck, not squeezing—just a gentle coax, reminding her she was in my power.

Her mouth opened and her body melted against mine. “Because…”

My body burned for her; my ears strained for her answer. “Because…” I licked her lips, begging her to finish her sentence. I had to hear why she cared. It meant the world to me.

I would never have cared about another person loving me before. Now, I needed it more than anything.

Tess kissed me back, whispering into my mouth. “Because you’re my monster in the dark, and I’m yours.”

What I Think

Tears of Tess puts you through so many emotions you are scared for Tess one minute then you hoping she finds her way. I really love books that to that to the reader, it was like being there with her it was written amazingly and i really cant wait until Quintessentially Q comes out.

The first couple of chapters i had one hand to my mouth thinking they cant do this to her nearly crying for her, they have to let her go but you soon find out that its doesn't happen and it like a rollercoaster ride.

You soon find out that Q is a person who keeps his secrets close to his chest and only gives them to people he trust (loves in his crazy way)

I gave this book my highest rating 5 wings because of the way it is written and how it pulls you into it right up to the last word.

Interview with J.B.McGee

I have been lucky to get interviews from some of my favorite Authors. i will be trying to put one interview up a week. they will be mixed Genre, hope you will come back every week to see who i have been talking to.

Before i get started with the interview i would like to thank JB McGee for taking the time out to do this with me, she is one of my go to authors.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Starting!  Seriously, starting a story and writing the first 10,000 words for me is by far the most difficult part. Once I hit that milestone, I usually am fine.

Have you ever had writers block  - if so what got you through it?

I have been blocked.  For me, it doesn’t usually last a long time.  There’s usually an external factor that influences the timing, usually something happening in my personal life that interferes with my ability to write. My mood will often play a role in that, as well.  If I don’t have a great playlist that speaks to me, it makes writing more difficult.  Music really moves me, and I get a lot of inspiration from songs.  I just try to be patient.  Eventually, my imaginary friends always start talking to me again.  What they say is usually worth the wait.

Do you read much or at all?

I don’t get to read a whole lot anymore.  There are multiple reasons why.  One is that I don’t usually read while I’m writing.  Having published five novels in a year, there hasn’t been a lot of time where I’m not writing.

If you do read who/what are your favorite Authors/Genre?

I love romance.  If I know there’s no happily ever after, I won’t read it.  I also love romantic suspense.  I want to write one of those.  I’m waiting for that story to pop into my mind.

Do you read your books review?

Every. Single. One. Of. Them.  Yes.  I credit the bad reviews with making me a much better writer.  I read them all.  Good or bad, they mean the world to me.  Ultimately, even the bad reviews show I did something right.  I wrote a book that made you passionate enough to leave your opinion, to make you have an opinion. So, I try to hold my head high and just make good from them, but I live for the good ones.  The good ones make my heart happy in a way that I can’t describe.

If you were asked for advice from an aspiring writer what would you tell them?

I’m not always the best at practicing what I preach, but this is the best advice I’ve got.  Just write what you know, what you hear, what you see.  Write every day.  Don’t worry about whether it’s good or bad.  That’s why we edit.  You can’t edit something you haven’t written.  So my biggest advice is to just write.
Which Authors inspire you?

I would love to one day have an empire like Nicholas Sparks.  I love his books, and I’d love to have a following/audience like he does.  I know that is probably clichĂ©, but that is the person that stands out in my mind.

Tell us a bit about yourself ?

I’m severely ADHD and I use this disability as an ability when I write.  The ADHD gives me the ability to hyper-focus on my project.  When I’m writing, it’s pretty much all I can think about or do.  Everything around me sort of disappears and it’s as if I have blinders on, or something.
I am also a graphic designer and an ultimate crafter.  I love making things.

How does it feel to have your work published?

Even a year later, it’s very surreal to see my name on paperback books, to have people send me messages that they loved something I wrote, or to actually pay money to come see me.  The sense of accomplishment is great.  I think out of all of the accomplishments I’ve had in my life, I’m most proud of this one.  My words are something that will live on forever, and I think making my family proud has been huge.  It’s also given me a platform to raise awareness for Mitochondrial Disease and share my testimony.  It’s definitely been a door opener.

Do you still like writing as much as you did when you first started?

Yes, probably more so.  I’m far more confident than I was with the first one.  With the first book, I was an amateur at best.  I’d like to think of myself as a professional at this point.  I don’t like writing when it feels like a homework assignment.  I like writing for me, what I want to write, what moves my soul.

Where is your favorite place to write if you have one?

It’s changed over the year.  It initially was my kitchen table.  Then it became the library.  Now it’s my desk in my office, which is open to my kitchen and living room.  As long as I have earphones, I am not too easily distracted.  Like I said, I have blinders that come out when I’m in writing mode.
The thing I love is that my kids can come up and pull my earphone out of my ear and tell me they love me, give me a kiss, or ask me to spend time with them if they need me.  I recognize how lucky I am that I have a job that I don’t consider work and allows me the opportunity to still be there 24/7 for my kids.

If you weren’t writing what else do you be doing?

Graphic design is what I did before, and I am pretty sure I’ll always be doing graphic design.  It’s the thing I’ve done the longest in my life.  It allows me the same flexibility as writing.  As the mother of two special needs children and having Mitochondrial Disease myself, I need something that allows for flexibility and can be done anywhere.

What is your comfort food?

Sweets.  I’m not picky.  I won’t lie.  I eat my emotions.

Do you use a Pen name or real name?

Well it’s both.  My maiden name is Jennifer Brandi McGee.  I hate Jennifer.  I actually paid money to have it switched to my middle name so I could drop it once I got married.  I go by Brandi, which is why a lot of people just call me B.  So when I decided to write, I didn’t want to use my married name because it’s hard. Polatty.  Try saying it or spelling it.  Can you imagine a domain name with that in it?  No.  It wasn’t going to work.  So, I’ve made no secret as to who I am or my identity.  I just thought it would be easier to use my maiden name.  Don’t call me Jennifer.  I won’t answer.  Still loathe that name.  My sister, who is the lawyer that changed my name for me, thinks it’s hilarious that I paid money to have it removed and now I’m using the initial.

Do you listen to music when you write?

Absolutely.  I think I’ve only written without music a couple of times, and it was because I didn’t have it as an option.  Once was in bed when I had something come to me in the middle of the night and I wrote it on my Samsung Galaxy Note.  The other was on the plane from Las Vegas.  Same situation.  I didn’t have access to music, but I knew I needed to write down what I saw in my mind.  They ended up being huge scenes, so I’m glad I just went with it.

The funnest thing happened at a signing?

Signing foam inappropriate body parts.

The Scariest thing happened at a signing?

Realizing I’d only brought three copies of several of the books and a bunch of one.  It all worked out, though.

10 Quick Questions

Chocolate - White / Dark / Milk

White or milk.  I don’t like dark.

Pets - Dog / Cat / Bird / Fish

None.  I do want a Yorkie, though.  No way we can do pets until the kids grow up, though.

Hair - Long / Short

Guy or girl?  I don’t like long hair on a guy.  For a girl, I think it just depends.  I’ve had both.  My hubby likes it long, so I’m growing mine back out for the winter.

Getaway - Mountains / Beach

110% beach.  Now you’re making me want a vacation!

Holidays - Easter / Xmas / Halloween

Easter, Christmas, Halloween.  Lots of great memories with my family for all of them.  I love Easter because it’s hope, salvation, grace.  The fuss over buying someone something they probably already have or don’t need isn’t there.  You can just really enjoy what it represents and the joy of being with family.

Movies - Horror / Comedy / Romance

Romance

Wine - Red / White

White

Season - Summer / Winter

Summer

Meal - Fast Food / Home-cooked

Home-cooked – I’m southern.  Need I say more?

Favorite Ice cream –

Pralines and cream.  Anything with caramel.  I don’t like chocolate ice cream as a flavor.  Only bits of candy in it.  I really like vanilla with add ins.

After the Kiss by Lauren Layne

Synopsis

In the first book of a delightful new series from Lauren Layne, the star columnist of Stiletto magazine will do anything for a story. Anything . . . except fall in love.

Julie Greene loves flings. Loves steamy first dates, sizzling first kisses, and every now and then, that first sexy romp between the sheets. Comfy pants, sleepy Sundays, movie nights on the couch? Shudder. But when Julie gets assigned the hardest story of her career—a first-person account of that magical shift between dating and “I do”—she’ll need a man brave enough to give a total commitment-phobe a chance at more.

Normally, Mitchell Forbes would be exactly that man. A devastatingly hot workaholic who tends to stay in relationships for far too long, he should be the perfect subject for Julie’s “research.” But what Julie doesn’t know is that Mitchell is looking to cut loose for once in his life. And the leggy journalist notorious for avoiding love is exactly the type of no-strings fling he’s looking for. In other words, Mitchell is the polar opposite of what Julie needs right now. And, at the same time, he’s exactly what she wants.

Dark Light by S. L. Jennings

Synopsis

Love. Sex. Magic.

Before her 20th birthday, Gabriella was pretty much clueless about all three. In love with her best guy friend since the age of 14 and too crass and intimidating for most of the male population of Colorado Springs, love and good sex were virtually a myth.

And then there’s magic. Freakin’ magic. There’s no way that legend could have a place in her less than exciting life. So why after twenty years of utter obscurity do her adopted parents hit her with the ton of bricks that is her true identity? And how the heck is she supposed to accept all this and become what she was truly created to be?

Lucky for Gabs, sexy as sin Dorian is more than equipped to help her embrace these new revelations. And while everything about him feels oh so good, she soon learns that there’s more behind his crystal blue eyes, chiseled body and exotic beauty. Something dark, menacing and downright unnatural. Yet Gabs is in way too deep to even try to turn away from him now.

Dark Light, Book 1 of the Dark Light Series, is the raw, emotional story of a young woman’s journey of self-discovery in a world that was not meant for her. And her scorching hot, lip-biting addiction for the man she can’t deny, no matter the cost.

Reflected to You by Sylvia Day

Synopsis

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. i couldn't stay away. i didn't want to. he was my addiction....my every desire....mine

My past was as violent as his, and i was just as broken. we'd never work. it was too hard, too painful... expect when it was perfect. those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.

we were bound by our need. and our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession....

What I Think

What i was thinking then....

This is a series I could not put down until I had finish it, it has a very flowing storyline very easy to read you sometimes find yourself laughing and then crying at what happens or thinking that they can't do that there. I can not wait for the third book to be released which will be mid year. So for the fans of the crossfire trilogy not long now.

What i think in 2014....

After reading the first book i really enjoyed this one more because things have happened between Gideon and Eva both good and bad. You still only see it in Eva POV but i think that makes the story leaving you with wanting more. I know for me i would love to have one book in his POV just to know what he is thinking at different points. As i think i said in the first review for this book that i went through all the emotions with Eva. I still have to read the Third book, i will be re-reading the whole series and will be adding more to this post as it has been a year since i read this book.
