Beautiful Entourage by E. L. Todd

Synopsis

Being a professional escort comes with its vices. To keep women from getting too clingy, stop them from dropping their panties, and silence them before they can blurt the L word, Rhett has made certain rules. He never breaks them.

Ever.

1. No Kissing.
2. No Feelings.
3. And definitely, absolutely, no sex.

But when Aspen, a beautiful brunette, hires him to help repair her image to her family, things get complicated. Rhett's never had a problem separating work from pleasure. But now work and pleasure seem to be one and the same

What I Think

I didn't really get into this book until a few chapters in, for that I will have to mark down a bit, sorry if you don't agree but i know a lot of my followers wouldn't of continued reading it and would of missed out on a pretty good book. I do like how it is told in both main characters  and they both seem to be down to earth.

Rhett is the escort that gets hired but to be a boyfriend / friend not for what comes to your mind first off, he is just there for show.  He is a complete gentlemen in every way but as you can see from the synopsis that there are rules that Aspen or Rhett can break but things happen.

Aspen works hard for her fathers company but never gets the thanks. She was asked into her fathers office and was pretty much told she was not good enough because she was a girl and that she would not take over the company once he retired if she didn't have a man next to her, that is were Rhett comes into the story.

Rhett and Aspen fell in to friendship from the first meeting at the coffee shop. talking to each other came easy for both like they had been friends for years. Im recommending this book to my followers but just need to get through the first couple of chapters trust me it gets better, and im giving this book a three reader rating.

Broken Beauty by Chloe Adams

Synopsis

First Serial in a series of six.

Sometimes bad things happen to beautiful people.

When socialite party girl Mia Abbott-Renou wakes up in a garden she has little recall of the previous night -- except that she is naked...hurt...terrified. Not only has she been raped, but she knows one of her assailants: the son of a wealthy politician who happens to be her own father’s political ally.

Mia wants and needs justice. Except this privileged boy has an alibi and her father forbids her from going to the police. It’s a critical election year, one that his party might lose if his image as a doting father is soured due to Mia being labeled a lush or worse, promiscuous.

Devastated at not having the support of her family, Mia finds herself in a tug-of-war with her conscience over what to do, especially since she can’t remember exactly what happened that night. Worse, the men who attacked her have hurt several other girls, and Mia may be the key to stopping them

Mia tries to forget, until the unthinkable happens, and she’s left reeling once again, faced with a new challenge that will force her to take more control of her life.

What I Think

I got this book as a ARC from NetGalley for a honest review and honesty this is one of the most emotional reads i have read in a while

This is a story not many authors are willing to write about as the main character is abused and left in a garden to be found by two police officers the next morning, The people that abused her she knew one of them so thinking that she was safe but no far from it. Mia woke to people talking she wasn't sure where she was thinking she was at home, until she opened her eyes and find out that no she wasn't and that what she was dreaming really happened.

i don't want to say to much as it will give away what happens in the book but it is a must read
This is the first book  of a six part series and i cant wait to see what happens to Mia.

Say When by Tara West

Synopsis

He told me to say when, but I can’t. Not with Andrés. It’s so hard to say anything when he’s trailing feather soft kisses down my neck, or when his touch sends hot currents of lust rippling across my skin.
Then there’s the way he smiles and offers soft words of encouragement when I’m creating art, almost like he believes I have talent.

He’s not like any guy I’ve ever met. Not like my ex-fiancée. Not like my father. He’s got me thinking that maybe we can have something more. More than just lust, degradation, and abuse.

And now I’m scared, because that means I’ll have to trust him with more than just my body, but with my heart, too.

What I Think

This story is one that everyone can connected to i know i did in so many ways. The way it was written was great, it started out Christina walking out on Jackson (he his no idea how to treat people let alone his fiance) she calls her best friend Karri to get her out of there.

Karri has a son and she doesn't know who the father is (or does she) she also has a drug problem and Jackson doesn't want Christina to have anything to do with her. Karri comes to pick Christina and when they were going out the engine blow so they pulled over in to a garage little did Christina know that everything would change.

She meet Andres will she walked right in to him. He has only been back from war for 5 weeks so he is still trying to get everything back to normal well as normal as his life will be after losing his best mate and thinking it was his fault.
I cant wait until the next book is out

Kathryn Mattingly Interview 2013

Before I get started with the interview i would like to thank Kathryn Mattingly for taking the time out from writing to do this with me,she is a amazing author and i'm so glad i know her.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My debut novel Benjamin was released through Winter Goose Publishing this past May and is a New Century Quarterly Finalist. It is about a woman whose son (Benjamin) has some very special gifts, and how she is willing to do whatever necessary to protect him from having those gifts exploited. It’s a testament to women: strong, resourceful, selfless and never expecting anything in return for their often extraordinary sacrifices made in the best interest of a child. Add an impossible love triangle complicated by the Catholic Church, and there you have it, a story involving all the different types of love that drive us to do what we do, for better or for worse.

I have a short story collection coming out this January called Fractured Hearts, and another novel “Journey” one year from now. Prior to Benjamin I had a lot of short stories published in different anthologies and five of them have been recognized for excellence or received awards, including one from Writer’s Digest Magazine, which is my proudest short story feat. I teach creative writing at the University of Phoenix and have my own manuscript editing service called penpublishpromote. Visit Amazon's Kathryn Mattingly Page  and website: edgy words unleashed@ pen publish promote

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Getting into the zone, which might take a lot of fooling around on the Internet first- especially on FB and for me, with email.

Have you ever had writers block - if so what got you through it?

I have never had writer’s block so to speak. I have panicked at times wondering if there is another book in me and then I will write down numerous clever plot ideas, stick them in a folder, and feel better.

Do you read much or at all?

No writer should ever admit it if they do not read. You cannot be excellent at something you do not part-take in. No exceptions. Ever. I have always read prolifically. Lately, my reading is much more streamlined and mainly in my own genre- literary suspense.

Who are your favorite authors?

Recently I have admired the work of Elle Newmark, who wrote “The Sandalwood Tree.” The book is beautifully written and one that I took note of for having emotionally moving scenes and for creating particular moods I wished to study for use in my own writing. I also greatly admired the work Chris Cleave did in “Little Bee” and Tatiana de Rosnay in Sarah’s Key. ASA Harrison is also a wonderful writer and made the Silent Wife, for me, more fun to read for the writing rather than the plot.

Do you read your book reviews?

Always. It is part of the process- absorbing what others think of your work so that you can process it with everything else about your craft, and hopefully it will make you a better writer for your audience in the end.

If you were asked for advise from an aspiring writer what would you tell them?

My first mentor, Elizabeth Engstrom, who wrote “Lizzy Borden” among many other books, told me once that “Persistence is the Key” and that advise, by the way, is golden for anybody trying to succeed in the world of words.

How does it feel to have your work published?

It feels fantastic! It validates you as a person when you receive fan mail and reviews from people who can connect to and enjoy what you have written.

Do you still like writing as much as you did when you first started?

If anything, I love it more. You enjoy writing on a whole new level as you become experienced with the craft and begin to appreciate finessing the finer elements.

Where is your favorite place to write if you have one?

My personal space is important to me, so wherever we live I need a cozy well-lit den with a large window to the outside world and all my favorite things surrounding me – books, favorite framed photos of family and other memorabilia from places I have traveled or events I have attended.

If you weren’t writing what else would you be doing?

I’d be an artist painting in oils and acrylics, drawing with charcoal and pastels.

What is your comfort food?

The one thing I will crave in the winter is something no restaurant could begin to recreate correctly and that is chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and peas, my favorite childhood meal.

Do you use a Pen name or real name?

Although I am not crazy about my name and could think up some great pen names I am not working this hard to give some fictitious person the credit.

Do you listen to music when you write?

Yes, contemporary piano music.

What is the funniest thing that happened at a signing?

I forgot someone’s name whom I should have known but I’d been signing so many books….

What is the scariest thing that happened at a signing?

Actually, the funniest thing was also the scariest- being mortified I might have to actually ask my friend their name, but fortunately I finally thought of it while they were standing there talking to me.

Pepper Winters Interview 2013

Before I get started with the interview i would like to thank Pepper Winters for taking the time out from writing to do this with me, she is one of my favorite authors.

What is the hardest thing about writing ?
  • Actually focusing and ignoring the online world. I suck at cutting myself off. I'm a procrastinator so pretend I have so much other important things to do when really I should be working on my manuscript. lol

Have you ever had writers block ?  - if so what got you through it

  • Yes. I have but I take a break, go for lunch, or take the day off. I keep a notebook on me at all times, so when I'm out I normally get some crazy ideas and I jot them down to make sure I never forget. I normally get re-energized and can't wait to get back to writing.

Do you read much or at all ?
  • I read too much! I'm always on the go with quite a few books. I prefer writing and reading over every other hobby. It got so bad when I was little that I was grounded for reading too much. lol

If you do read who/what are your favorite authors/Genre ?
  • I love all genres and both non-fiction and fiction. My favourite author is Laini Taylor for her style of writing, but I also love many different artists for their ability to pace and draw you into a story.

Do you read your books review ?
  • I read all the ones on amazon. I tend not to go on GR's much. I've had my heart broken a couple of times--not from reviews, but the comments that go on in the review thread. I don't mind critique, it's what helps me grow as a writer, but I don't like reading comments. It feels like I'm eavesdropping.

If you were asked for advise from a aspiring writer what would you tell them ?
  • Keep writing, keep improving. Spend time building a network of people who believe in you. Never give up, even on your darkest days and if it's your dream, keep your passion alive at all times.

Which Authors inspire you ?
  • I really look up to authors who have come out of nowhere. E.L James brought erotica to the masses. Jean M Auel did amazing research for her books. I value the qualities of each individual.

Tell us a bit about yourself
  • I'm a workaholic. Up until recently, I had four jobs. I now have three but I've taken time off them to focus on writing Quintessentially Q for a month. I don't want to let my readers wait too long J

How does it feel to have your work published ?
  • Very cool. I couldn't wait to press the button. I love the freedom of self-publishing and the support of the amazing bloggers.

Do you still like writing as much as you did when you first started ?
  • Yes. It never diminishes. Some days are harder than others, but it's the story that dedicates that. Some days it's a hard place to be in the manuscript and others it's a breeze.

Where is your favorite place to write if you have one ?
  • I write in our lounge. Either at the kitchen table or on the couch by hubby. I don't like to be far from him. I'm such a sap J

If you werent writing what else do you be doing ?
  • Renovating houses. But my ultimate dream is to write for a career and I'll keep doing that until I can quit all my other jobs J

What is your comfort food ?
  • It's not really a food but Coke Zero makes me happy. J

Do you use a Pen name or real name ?
  • I use a mix of my real name and pen name J

Do you listen to music when you write ?
  • No. I have to have complete silence. No talking to me. No music. Nothing. Otherwise my brain can't focus at all.

Wanted by J. Kenner

Synopsis

For fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, Bared to You, and Release Me comes an all-new erotic series of three enigmatic and powerful men, and the striking women who can bring them to their knees.

He is everything I crave, all I desperately want—and he is everything I can’t have.

Evan Black embodies my every fantasy. He is brilliant, fierce, and devastatingly handsome. But he is also headstrong, dangerous, and burdened with secrets.

My family warned me to stay away, that I could never handle Evan’s dark dealings or scarred past. Maybe I should have listened. Maybe I should have run. But our desire is undeniable, and some temptations you just can’t fight.

And from the moment we touch—the passion between us consuming us both—I know that I will never be the same.

What I Think

Every book i have read of J. Kenner i have loved and this is added into that list. The way she details the little moments the main characters have in a big group is amazing and it sucks you into the book even more.

Angie (Lina) has had a total crush on Evan for so long, but now he is wanting her back but she has a boyfriend who works in the FBI and is warning her to stay away from Evan and his friends (The Knights).

Evan was warned not to get involved with Angie by her uncle but now that he has died all is ok to go after her, well that is what you think will happened but once Evan says he is going to stay away he wont go back on his word.

I really don't want to give to much away even though it is the first book in the series, I will recommend every single book that J. Kenner write as she is a amazing author and can make you get lost into the books she writes. I am giving this book a 5 readers rating i hope you all enjoy this story as much as i did.

Excerpt

There is chit-chat all around us. People talking about what they did over the summer, what classes they have. My attention is suddenly drawn to the door, as if I had no choice but to look, and when I do, I see the most beautiful boy I have ever seen in my entire life.
His looks rival that of any movie star. His hair is a mess on top of his head, it’s nearly jet black, with purplish highlights shining in the fluorescent lights; it slightly hangs in his eyes.

It looks super soft and I just want to run my fingers through it to find out. His jeans hit low on his hips, and the gray t-shirt he's wearing hugs his torso, showing off his lean, muscular form. His eyes scan the room, and he nods to someone off to the right, making his way towards them. Never seeing me. My heart is racing.

"Erica, who is that?" I nod to the beautiful boy as he makes his way to his seat.

"Oh, that? That's Evan 'the jerk' Harris." She doesn't hide the disdain in her voice.

"The jerk?"
"Well, that's what I've heard.

I've never met him, but from what I've heard, he's a piece of work."
Too bad.

What I Think

I read this book in a day, at first i was like what is going on is it a guys POV and are they really young but then you find out pretty quick that no its a females POV and they are in their twenty's doing last minute costume shopping for Halloween.

Well the story follows Zoey, Ashlee (Zoey best girl friend), Evan (Zoey best guy friend), Griffin (guy Zoey met at the Halloween party) and a couple of others. this book had me laughing out loud so hard my family was looking at me like i was crazy. all the way i was hoping that Zoey would just tell Evan that she had loved him since the first moment she saw him, but as you find out she doesn't and she finds herself falling for Griffin who is totally in love with her.

You find out that Evan doesn't like Griffin even though he is the nicest, caring and generally awesome guy (what everyone wants in a boyfriend) but at the end of the book there is a twist you don't see coming or do you....

What I Think

I was lucky to be asked to read and review this book, I have read the first book in this series and loved it and was hoping that this book was the same or better. oh it was better

The story follows Layla in this book, its starts back with her waking up on New Years Day. not remembering much from the night before rolling over in a bed and a room she has never been before. she told herself that she is over the casual sex and is now going to swear off guys. seven months later she is on a case that she has to follow up a police officer to clear up a problem but he doesn't seem to be picking up his phone so she took it on herself to go to the department and speak to him face to face, everything that could go wrong did,(Shoe broke, someone else taking her taxi).  finally getting to the department she walk up to the front desk asking to see the officer, but she didn't have a appointment telling the lady she doesn't have time for this as she has to be in court by 2pm and has tried to get him on the phone wasn't working the lady called he said for her to come down to his office as he has time now to see her.

Walking into his office Layla was trying to come across as a strong lawyer type which she was excellent at, looking around seeing family photos behind him and thinking all the good ones are gone. she got to the point of the reason she was there, telling her he will deal with it and to come back in a couple of days. she did and the chargers were dropped and the officer that was involved was dealt with, her job being done she was happy.

It was the end of a long week for Layla. she just got back from taking Prince for a walk seeing she had mail, there was a letter that didn't have a postage stamp thinking that who sent it just dropped it off, opening it up all it said was 'I'm waiting you f**king w**re' she started to freak out and went to the police department, she had been waiting for 45 minutes when she seen Ben get out of the elevator he was heading for the exit when he glanced the chairs on his way out he did a double take when he seen Layla sitting in one of the chairs stopping and heading over to her. saying their hellos Layla telling him she wasn't there on business but to file a report, Ben ask what sort of report not wanting to talk where everyone can hear them. Ben said to come to his office, after Layla telling him, he didn't want her to go home by herself so he went with her to check the place out to make sure no one was in her apartment.

Layla liked being around him but they both needed to be in charge and didn't like people telling them what to do, they made a agreement that both have two weeks each to be in charge, they went out and stayed at which others places in that time and when Layla realised that she was falling for Ben.

There is so much to say but I think you need to read this amazing book yourself to find out.

What I Think

Oh my gosh i dont know where to start i really liked this book and the way the author wrote it. it had me laughing out loud at times with what was said and crying as well, i love when a book does that to a reader.

Cricket has just moved to get away from things she doesnt want anyone to know about but when she gets stuck in the mud (yes she really does) Jyme (mud god) and his friends help her out. Cricket was thinking that he was there to kill her but all he was doing was helping out,she is new to these parts and didn't trust anyone.

Jyme is a fisherman or is he, that is what the book does to you. you keep questioning yourself to what he does or who he is but you find out and you dont see it coming. The way the book finishes keeps you guessing.

I am giving this book a 4 readers rating I really liked it and can't wait until the next book comes out.

What I Think

OMG what a roller-coaster ride of emotions, i have this book in my kindle for a while and evertime i think about looking at it i see a newer book that jumps in front of it. but i am so glad that i have read it now and cant believe that i waited so long to do it.

Never, Always, Sometimes by Adi Alsaid

Synopsis

Never date your best friend

Always be original

Sometimes rules are meant to be broken

Best friends Dave and Julia were determined to never be cliché high school kids—the ones who sit at the same lunch table every day, dissecting the drama from homeroom and plotting their campaigns for prom king and queen. They even wrote their own Never List of everything they vowed they'd never, ever do in high school.

Some of the rules have been easy to follow, like #5, never die your hair a color of the rainbow, or #7, never hook up with a teacher. But Dave has a secret: he's broken rule #8, never pine silently after someone for the entirety of high school. It's either that or break rule #10, never date your best friend. Dave has loved Julia for as long as he can remember.

Julia is beautiful, wild and impetuous. So when she suggests they do every Never on the list, Dave is happy to play along. He even dyes his hair an unfortunate shade of green. It starts as a joke, but then a funny thing happens: Dave and Julia discover that by skipping the clichés, they've actually been missing out on high school. And maybe even on love.

What I Think

This is a sweet little book that i enjoyed to read. it was a good change to what i have been reading.
I was lucky enough to be able to get this book early and to review it, im not going to say much as the synopsis says enough about the storyline.
The characters were just what the story needed they weren't to high-schooly if you know what i mean it was a all around good book and i would love to anything Adi Alsaid has written or will write, I am giving this book a 4 reader rating as there could of been a bit more to it, I will recommend this book to all my followers, you will really like this sweet read.
